Samantha & Myles
I love it when a couple finds what they love and celebrates it. Our groom in today’s elegant Inglis Stables wedding adores horses, so the couple chose a beautiful stable setting for their big day, setting long tables under festoon lights for the party to unfold. The newlyweds worked with gm photographics to capture their day.
Our newlyweds kick off the story of the day with how they met. “We met at a work function in the middle of 2011, didn’t really speak much, just had a little dance then parted ways. Then the end of year Xmas party came around and I remember thinking to myself hmm I wonder if that guy will be there’.. he was and we’ve spoken to each other every day since!”
The bride chose a gown by Pallas Couture, noting “I had been to a few shops looking for dresses, I was kind of sad because I couldn’t find any dresses I loved. Then I discovered Pallas Couture – ‘here is where all the good dresses have been hiding!!!!’ The experience I had in the beautiful Paddington Terrace was everything I was ever dreaming it would be! Surrounded by stunning dresses sipping on champagne, I was in heaven!”
The couple chose the beautiful St Bridges Parish, Coogee for their ceremony. The bride entered to an acoustic version of Big Jet Plane by Angus and Julia Stone.
The bride remembers “I was 45mins late to the ceremony because on our way to the church in Coogee from Darling Harbour, our Limo got stuck in traffic due to a protest in the city! We were not moving, waiting and waiting and waiting… I was about to lose it! Our superstar limo driver then attempted to reverse his 12 seater Limo back into George Street, traffic still coming at us from all directions. Pedestrians on the street were helping by traffic controlling, it was a bit of a Sex in the City moment. We did it and we got there!”
“When we were signing our register, our chosen song didn’t play, another song I wasn’t familiar with started to play. It played for about 30 seconds then kicked into our chosen song. My dad later that night told me the unknown song that played was actually the song he and mum had their first dance to at their wedding. That cannot just be a crazy coincidence, she was there with us in spirit and that was her way of showing us. Something I will never ever forget.”
Samantha tells of their photographer “GM Photographics were so fun and easy to work with!!!! Myles and I are so goofy and un-co in front of the camera and had no idea what we’re doing, they really helped us, made us laugh and feel extremely comfortable. We loved sharing our day with them and the photos turned out fantastic!”
Inglis New Market Stables set the scene for the reception with styling and florals by Topcat Instyle. Samantha explaining “Myles is a huge horse racing fan and I love how the Inglis Stables was really fitting to him and his personality. It was nice to have something which incorporated the groom, usually it’s all about the bride. We also loved having the country rustic feel right in the city! The setup I was incredible, it exceeded all of the expectations.”
In lieu of traditional favours, the couple made a donation to McGrath Foundation. Samantha explaining “I wanted to do something that was really close to my heart. We made a donation to the McGrath Foundation in honour of my late mum on behalf all of our guests. The McGrath Foundation provided us with nice little cards, with a message to put at everyone’s place setting.”
“Our entry to the Reception with the Lebanese drummers was INSANE!!! All of our friends and family had the most amazing time.”
Of their first dance, the bride remembers “Paperheart Band did an amazing cover of one of our most favourite songs – Magic by Coldplay. Our Band, Paperhearts were absolutely amazing. They got everyone up one the dance floor played fun songs that everyone (oldies and youngies) wanted to sing and dance to. The really created the party atmosphere we wanted.”
Congratulations Samantha and Myles! Thank you for sharing your stories with us! Thank you also to gm photographics for sharing today’s photographs!
