Summer is finally here and everyone would love to go out and enjoy either a refreshing dip at the beach or attend other outdoor activities. On its hottest days, however, you feel so dry and getting soaked under the heat of the sun is not advisable at all as it can cause damage on your skin or worse, give you a high chance of getting skin cancer. Keeping your skin hydrated and protected is therefore advisable.
Here are quick tips on how to keep your skin hydrated despite the summer heat and as you patiently follow these tips, you will find that makeup application becomes easier and your makeup looks fresher
1. Drink lots of water and fruit juices
Drinking at least 8 glasses of water not only keeps your body and skin hydrated but helps in flushing toxins away. Include natural fruit juices to cleanse and keep your skin healthy. Alcohol and caffeinated drinks should be avoided.
2. Eat healthily and take vitamins
Include rapids in your diet. Fruits and vegetables are not only contain the necessary vitamins and minerals that nourish your skin but antioxidants as well to make it young-looking. Supplements and vitamins are also recommended to help maintain your glow. Avoid salty foods as too much sodium can cause dehydration.

3. Exercise and avoid harsh elements
Exercise will not only make you fit and energized but keep your skin from sagging. Avoid getting exposed to smokes especially from cigarettes and cigars, which will not only lead you to having dry skin but cause rapid ageing.
4. Apply sunscreen and reapply every 2 hours
Make it a daily habit to apply 2mg/cm2 of lotion that contains sunscreen protection factor (SPF) 15 minutes before going out. SPF levels indicate the sunscreen’s ability to protect your skin against sunburns caused by ultraviolet B (UVB) rays and UVA rays, which can even cause greater damage. Applying sunscreen with SPF 15 means that you are protected against 93% of UVB rays; 97% for SPF 30; and 98% for SPF 50.
5. Use mild soaps and moisturize skin daily
Never use soaps and other bath products that contain harsh chemicals. It will keep your skin dry by removing natural oils. Having a good bath using hydrating products and make sure your skin is well pampered from head to toes.
6. Gear up for the sun
Bring an umbrella when going out and don’t expose yourself too much. Keep your eyes protected against the glaring light and UV rays by wearing sunglasses. Beware of sun exposure on hotter hours at 10 AM to 3 PM. This can cause much damage on your skin.
7. Freshen up with a reliable toner and exfoliate regularly
Get rid of dry and dead skin cells by exfoliating regularly and use body scrubs. You can add honey to your favourite facial wash or simply use yogurt combined with milk. Do this at least twice a week to renew your skin and boost its natural glow.
8. Rest your skin for a while
As your mind and body needs a break, your skin does too. Whenever you can, make sure to use light makeups. Whenever you’re simply at home or on a holiday, don’t apply any. Simply moisturize your face and you’ll be good.
